Rinus van Alebeek – Overseas- (interviews/songs)

A new show by me (=Rinus van Alebeek) which is called -Overseas-. In the first edition I talk with Andrea Belfi and Barbara Lazara. The music is by Bodycocktail. Andrea Belfi was on a 53day tour of the USA with the trio Il Sogno del Marinaio, (Mike Watt on bass, Stefano Pilia on guitar). I spoke to him somewhere around the 40th day of his tour. It is a twenty minute interview that mainly focusses on Andrea’s tour experiences. The music on the show is by Bodycocktail, one of the…

Tapes and Talks from the Mulinen Studio Vol 1-3 by Rinus van Alebeek

Now that I am finally settled in the coastal area of Calabria, I have started a new series of programs of which three are now rotating in the schedule. Each program is one hour long. I play tapes that were sent to me by friends. I give information, sometimes I make up a story. In the first volume of the show you will hear Ben Roberts and his eclectiktronik label. The Shitty Listener aka Jason Honea and Ginger Miles. In the second volume there are The Herd of the Ether…

Rinus in the Mulinen Studio #1

A show produced at an old wooden table in the heart of the Porticello Castle on the shores of the Liparian Sea. I (=Rinus van Alebeek) used exclusively tape players. The show opens with a long run of the tape EP-1 by EclectikTronik (Ben Roberts.) An other tape played in the process is by The Shitty Listener (Jason Honea). For the rest of the one hour show I mix own recordings (some done on a winter’s day at Tempelhof, an other one in the highest sphere up on Teufelsberg) (others…

Shephard &Van Alebeek – The Maggot Mystery

The collaboration between Adrian (Shephard) and me (Rinus Van Alebeek) started in the east of Berlin in the year 2006. Initially we were transmitting via a secret link on a big important cultural server in the center of Amsterdam. Those programs evolved around musics we got from artists living in or visiting Berlin. But we left that formula pretty fast when we decided to focus on interviews instead, or on interviewing ourselves. * * * Especially the interviews with ourselves lead us to unknown regions of our fantasy. We avoided…

Rinus – The Scottish Independence Referendum Program (inside the program: Ivor Cutler and Scottish Friends)

On the day of the Scottish Referendum, well, the evening of it, around the hour that the poll stations closed, I (=Rinus van Alebeek) did a live program from Capo Vaticano, Calabria where I reside at the moment. The program starts with a spoken introduction, but soon gets sabotaged by all kinds of crackles and silences which destroy my message completely. What follows is a long mix of music from cassette tapes I received as a present or as trade. You will hear the works, and not specifically in this…

Adrian Shephard and Rinus van Alebeek talk with Shelley Hirsch

Shelley Hirsch came to the Oranien Studio to talk with Shephard and Van Alebeek. Songs of her beautiful album Where were you then are played; Shelley talks about some of the songs, which brings her to her eye-witnessing the 9/11 attack just a few blocks from where she lived, but takes the listener also to California in the early 70s, Amsterdam when flower power was written on every T-shirt, to Brooklyn, her father playing songs on an old gramophone. Shelley Hirsch’s storytelling is totally captivating and brings hilarious moments. Also…

Interview – Shephard/Van Alebeek talk with Barbara Lazara and Gaia

Shephard and Van Alebeek’s special way to put their guests at ease here demonstrated in an interview/talk with Barbara Lazara and Gaia. Barbara from the hot bloodrush capital of Mexico, on a temporary leave in Berlin; Gaia from somewhere in Italy on a permanent stay in Berlin. One of them works with voice, the other with art spaces. Information dull enough to scare any committed listener. But just have a look at them. You think we shared one dull moment? You want to submit your works or tapes/CDs/Vinyls released by…

Rinus Radio Broadcast Company – ft Interview with Dmytro Fedorenko about East Ukraine

A couple of weeks ago I (Rinus Van Alebeek) stayed some days in the Oranien Studio. That was a good chance to interrupt the regular programs and go live on air. Over the years our archive with CD’s, Vinyl given by friends and Records found in the trash has grown extensively. I decided to play this music, and act as a normal DJ, given information on the tracks and, if possible, on the releases themselves. But it was also time to connect with our friend Dmytro Fedorenko in Kiev. We…

The Second Interview with our Man in Kiev

The second interview with Dmytro is done in two parts. Do we need to say more about him? From the interview you will learn that he is at the protester’s camp every day and takes part in the protests in one way or an other. The interview goes on for almost an hour. We hear about historical (Stalinist) origins of the cultural and political division between east and west-Ukraine and how this has an impact on the protest movement. The point of the radical opposition gets explained; the perception of…
