Radio On Unknown – Barbara Lazara interviews Adrian Shephard

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
Hamlet (1.5.167-8), Hamlet to Horatio

Ever since the Shakespeare quote became part of a national heritage, the Brits seem to have spend most of their lives in exploring the unknown side of ‘things.’

In the interview with Adrian Shephard, Adrian at some point expresses a feeling of nostalgia for the Victorian age when even electricity was regarded as something occult.

Barbara Lazara appeared as a guest in the Oranien studio a few times. When she went back to Mexico she became addicted to Radio On. Being an artist who works with sound and with body, she became interested in Adrian’s artistic disciplines which deal with sound and boy as well.

But what should set of as a talk about this art in a fine narrative way evolves in a labyrinthic expedition deep into Adrian’s memories and his encounters with the Unknown.

The Dreammachine, The Philadelphia Experiment, magnetic fields with levitating qualities, out of body experiments, Lakhovsky‘s Multiple Wave Oscillator, time travelling, telepathy, Wilhelm Reich, past live regression, but also wandering around in Brighton, meetings with ordinary people, a masterclass on the theory of butoh and movement and a live Tarot Reading are just some of the topics.

An extra charm is added by Barbara Lazara’s enthousiasm and guidance, and her adorable Mexican accent.

Not to be missed!
