“In the beginning ambient music was played in the second room of raves to act as a place where punters could seek a quiet place to collect them selves if the moment or the drug was overwhelming us.The music then became the soundtrack to our comedowns at home for the day later It was integral to the scene” Mixmaster Morris April 2026
Some notes around the latest broadcast from me, the Wirebender, here on Radio On Berlin.

First up is Just Joseph this session . The session got buried a way in the pre covid memory but here, now in spring 2026 we are finally presenting Joseph aka Joseph Wilkins the street-loop-guitar player. We first met Joseph busking outside a London train station.
We invited him to play at one of our gatherings where together we improvised his loops along with my dj cuts , the second track was recorded prior to the gig where we jammed in our cafe studio part of the former social housing project. Joseph describes making music as ‘ambient soundscapes’. two delay pedals and a heap of attitude .

Radio On and Rubber bus go back man way back
“Open a can “and “Crystal mash may sound like weird hipster real ale acts but alas no they are just the titles to the two tracks in session
Both are from the latest and eternally bliss-full lp Karmic city lp To which .conversations with Paul were the impetus for the show as we locked in on our reflections on backroom at a rave vibe later endorsed by Mixmaster Morris.
The johnny Halifax invocation
“Invocation “the act or an instance of invoking, especially an appeal to a higher power for assistance.
A prayer or other formula used in invoking, as at the opening of a religious service,The act of conjuring up a spirit by incantation.
Whats to say ? I was invited the the in store event by the good people at Dash the Henge our local record shop.I was invited to watch this acid blues droned drenched outfit some part Iggy Pop part Suicide part Robert Johnson .They performed with an incredible back lit oil wheel backdrop this track reflects their sonic propensity .It was recorded recently in London at Walthamstow trades hall . The invocation sure made a believer out of me ?

Elijah Minelli
Elijah Minnelli is borne of an equal love of outsider folk, and the interwoven musical lineages of both South America and the West Indies. Minnelli’s output stands out by balancing its influences with a unique irreverence. The physical fruits of his labour first appeared as a successful run of self-released 7 inch singles, each handmade and ferried across the record shops of London https://soundcloud.com/elijahminnelli Theres also more than a hint oh him On warp labels posthumous release on Mark Stewart LP where he is credited on the lamenting cover of Everyones go to learn sometime.

When I was five or six I’d play with new toys on the front steps hoping that kids walking by would see them and be jealous.
Really though, no one seemed to care
