Rinus van Alebeek -Overseas- interviews w/Dinah Bird and Barbara Lazara, Music by Larry Mondello Band

In the second episode of -Overseas- I talk with Dinah Bird about her release on Gruenrekorder, called A Box of 78s. It is basically a story about a box that was bought some hundred years ago. The box contained records, 78rpm records and the first thirty years of its existence it was in use on Salt Spring Island, just of the coast from Vancouver. Dinah went there, with the box and a portable gramophone player. She came back with a lot of sounds and a couple of stories. Some of those stories you will hear in the interview.

The second interview with Barbara Lazara is also the second interview with Barbara Lazara. Reason for this is the social unrest in Mexico, that bursted out after the disappearance of 43 students. Mass graves were found, but no remains of the students, who disappeared after a demonstration in a joined action of local politicians and narco-mafia. Now there are the first signs of an organised resistance. Barbara explains historic and traditional backgrounds of the protest movement.
